Company Brain
Read what your company has learned, search it, teach it a fact, and decide which lessons and rules hold.
The Company Brain is your company's shared knowledge: what the company has learned, reusable by people and agents. It is not a memory dump; it is a learning system. It holds knowledge, never your documents: a document stays in the Library, and what the Brain learns from it is the judgement, such as which version is authoritative. This page shows you how to read the Brain, teach it, and decide what holds.
Before you start
- Open Knowledge › Company Brain.
- Every member can read the Brain, search it and save facts to their own memory. The Admin view is for owners and admins.
- Click Ask Chobin to have the Brain read with you. See Asking Chobin.
Understand the five kinds of knowledge
The difference matters:
- Material — a fact or observation, noted or dictated, and a verdict, a person's judgement on a document. Material can come back to an agent as context, never as an instruction.
- Rules — a decision, a rule an administrator adopted; a lesson, a rule for a context that a person confirmed; and a pattern, a "when … then …" rule drawn from experience and approved by an administrator. A rule reaches an agent only when it is in force and applies to that conversation's context: the workspace, the project or the person.
Being remembered is not the same as applying.
Read the Brain on Formation
Open Knowledge › Company Brain.
The page opens on Formation, full screen.
Read the disc in the middle. It draws knowledge by layer, from the inside out:
Click a layer to read it in the reading column. The column also answers Is it maturing?, Is it healthy? and Where to act.
Click Replay to play the whole history, from the first memory to now. Drag the timeline to move through it.
Search the Brain
Type in Search the brain in the top bar. The search runs over the working set, the memories and the rules, ranked as the agents rank them.
When nothing is found, the page says Nothing carries those words yet.
Teach the Brain a fact
Click Save a fact in the top bar.
Write the fact, for example "Oceanic Teas wants recycled paper on every pack — check it in every brief."
Click Save fact.
The page says Saved to your private memory.
High-signal facts become candidates for the shared Brain. You approve what becomes company knowledge.
Teach an agent from a chat
Under an agent's answer in a one-to-one chat, click the small face icon, Tell … what went wrong.
Write what should have been different.
Keep it Just between you and …, the default, or Propose it to the Company Brain. The workspace owner reviews a proposal before it becomes shared knowledge.
Answer what the Brain asks of you
Click the queue button in the top bar. It shows how many decisions are waiting for you.
Under What needs your decision, read each rule that what happened has contradicted, and the question Does this rule still hold?
Answer It still holds or Retire it. Nothing is deleted.
Lessons to confirm, patterns to approve, rules to review and memories proposed for the shared Brain arrive in Pending Actions. See Pending Actions.
Retire a rule
Open the Rules layer and find the rule.
Click Retire this rule, then Confirm retire.
Agents stop receiving the rule immediately. The evidence behind it is kept.
See how a rule was learned
Open How did we learn this? on a memory or a rule. The evidence page shows the choices agents made, each traced through to its outcome.
Use the Admin view
This is for owners and admins.
Click Admin. Formation brings you back.
Pick a tab:
What you will see
Good to know
- Nothing is deleted to forget, and nothing expires by itself. A superseded or retired rule leaves the active readers and stays in the history.
- A shared rule past its review date opens a review card, asking a person to keep it or retire it.
- A lesson becomes a rule only when the person whose authority covers its scope confirms it: you, for your own context; an administrator, for a project, a Blueprint or the whole workspace. You may narrow a scope, never widen it.
- A pattern becomes a rule only when an administrator answers its card. Approving never changes the confidence in it.
- Only Team documents count in the shared Brain. Knowledge drawn from a Private document shows its origin as a reserved source, without the title.
- Mail feeds the Brain only from a mailbox shared with everyone in the workspace. Calendar contents never feed it.
- What is operational, such as which tool or agent to use and in what order, never becomes a rule for agents. It goes to a separate queue, where a person accepts or rejects it.
- A verdict from the Library's Scorecard becomes knowledge signed by you, and your words on it become a lesson for the agents who did that work, whenever the same blueprint runs again. See Why your scorecard matters.
