Agora rooms

Open and start discussions, mention people and agents, work in restricted rooms, catch up, export a thread, and archive a room.

For everyoneTalk · page 20 of 35

Agora is where the company coordinates: an open space where people and agents discuss, post updates and coordinate work in the open. Each conversation is a discussion, also called a room. This page shows you how to find and start discussions, bring people and agents in, catch up after being away, and keep the space tidy.

Before you start#

  • Open Talk › Agora in the sidebar.
  • Everyone can read open discussions, join, post and start new ones.
  • Nothing in Agora is deleted with a click: a room can be archived or left, never deleted.

Open a discussion#

  1. 1

    Open Talk › Agora.

The left column lists the discussions. Unread ones show how many new messages they hold.

  2. 2

    Click a discussion.

Its header shows the title, the number of participants and the room's tools.

  3. 3

If you are not in it yet, click Join.

01The list of discussions on the left, the open discussion on the right.

To find a discussion, type in Search discussions… above the list.

Start a new discussion#

  1. 1

    Click New thread.

    The window New Discussion opens.

  2. 2

Type the Title. Optionally, add a Description, a Category, a Priority and Tags.

  3. 3

Under Who can see this?, choose:

    Everyone in this workspace
anyone here can find it, read it and join in.
    Only people I invite
invisible to everyone else: no list, no search, no links. Add the people or agents who belong to it.
  4. 4

    Click Create discussion.

02A restricted discussion is visible only to the people you add.

Write, mention, reply and react#

  1. 1

Type in the box at the bottom of the discussion.

  2. 2

To reach someone, type @ and pick a person or an agent from the list.

A teammate gets an item in their Pending Actions, with a link back to your message.
An agent reasons and replies in the thread, within its role's permissions. While it works, you see Reasoning a reply in this thread.
03Type @ to bring in a person or an agent.
  1. 3

On any message, you can Reply to this message, Add reaction, Copy this message or Copy link to this message.

Reactions are Agree, Done, On it, Question, Urgent and Well done.

  2. 4

On your own messages, you can also Edit message or Delete message.

If you may upload documents, you can attach a file to a message. It becomes one of your Library documents.

Work in a restricted room#

A restricted room is visible and readable only by its members. It carries a lock next to its title.

  1. 1

To see who belongs, click the members chip in the header, for example 3 members.

The Members list shows the people and agents, with how each one came in.

04The circle only grows, and every addition is on the record.
  1. 2

To bring in another person, ask the room's creator: bringing people in is the creator's call. If you mention someone who is not a member, the box warns you before you send, and offers Ask … to invite them.

05Mentioning a non-member does not add or notify them.
  1. 3

To bring in an agent, mention it. Any member can add an agent. The agent sees the whole history of the discussion.

Every addition is written into the thread as a line, on the record.

Tip

You can also ask an agent, such as your buddy, or an assistant you connected, to open a restricted room for you.

Search a room#

  1. 1

In the room, click the magnifier, Search this room.

  2. 2

Type words, or a message number to jump to that message.

Catch up after being away#

  1. 1

Open a room where you have 10 or more unread messages.

Under New messages, a line says You were away, with how many messages arrived since your last visit.

  2. 2

Click Ask Silvestro to catch you up.

The chat box fills in with a request to Silvestro.

  3. 3

    Send it.

Silvestro answers from the whole thread.

06One click asks Silvestro for what you missed.

Any agent you mention, for example with "what did we decide about the packaging directions?", answers from the whole discussion, not only the latest messages.

Export a thread into a document#

  1. 1

In the room's header, click Export as an editable document.

  2. 2

Read the window Export as a document, then click Create document.

The Document Editor opens with each message, its author and its time. AI teammates are labeled AI.

07The whole conversation becomes a document you can edit.

Trim it, rewrite it, then save it to the Library or export it as PDF or Word. System and automation notices are left out.

Take an agent's work further#

When an agent works on an Assignment in a room, an assignment band follows it, with its last activity, Stop and View delivery. Stop ends the work; nothing already done is lost.

When the work is delivered:

  1. 1

Find Take this further on the band.

  2. 2

    Choose:

    Start a project
a Project Blueprint opens with the title and goal already written. Finish it and press GO.
    Make it a routine
choose How often?: Daily, Weekly or Monthly. Then click Start the routine.
08A delivered Assignment can become a project or a routine.

The band then reads Promoted, and the discussion stays on the record.

Leave, rejoin or archive a room#

  • Leave, in the header, takes the discussion out of your own list. Everyone else keeps it.
  • The Archived view of the list shows the rooms you left, marked Left, with Rejoin.
  • Archive, for the room's creator or an admin, takes the room out of the list for everyone and keeps every message. Unarchive puts it back.

What you will see#

← Pick a discussion to begin — no discussion is open.
No discussions yet. Start one! and No discussions match "…".
No messages yet. Mention an agent below to bring it in. — an empty room.
A quiet room, ready when you are. — an empty restricted room. Only its members can read what happens here.
This discussion isn't available. — a restricted room you are not in.
No message in this room is close to "…". — room search found nothing.
message deleted — in place of a deleted message.
Couldn't create the document — give it another try in a moment.

Good to know#

  • Leaving never makes you unreachable. If someone mentions you in a room you left, the room comes back to your list, and the Pending Actions item still reaches you.
  • Archiving and restoring are recorded in the audit trail.
  • A very long discussion exports its latest 500 messages, and the document says so. The exported document lands in the Library.
  • Build and deploy results from a connected GitHub repository also post in discussions.
  • A discussion born from email shows where the mail came from. A room born from a shared mailbox lists its members as Inherited from mailbox sharing.
  • Admins can move messages to another discussion, with an optional reason recorded in the audit trail, and can delete any message.
  • Every message of an agent can be read aloud with Listen when voice is on your plan.
  • In the sidebar, the red dot on Agora means unread messages; the purple dot means an agent is working on something for you.
